I’d been looking forward to Jess and Tom’s wedding at Ringwood Hall in Chesterfield, Derbyshire since the first time we’d met. They’re an absolutely fantastic match for each other, and bags of fun to be around. However, I was also slightly apprehensive as Jess kept telling me during their engagement shoot at Darley Park that I would have to fit in with the “madness” of their friends and family! How mad could they be?
It was with a small amount of trepidation then that I knocked on the front door of Jess’ parent’s house in Mickleover. What chaos would I find reigning inside? Well, as it turned out, none! Jess answered, already looking amazing with hair and tiara in place. The lack of madness was largely down to the fact that Jess’ friends and bridesmaids were still elsewhere having their hair done. So I took the opportunity to get some detail shots.
It wasn’t long before the rest of the bridal party arrived, champagne corks popped and the preparations were officially in full swing.
Jess, her bridesmaids and parents all made the forty-five minute journey up to Ringwood Hall in Chesterfield in stylish vintage cars.
The ceremony was beautiful, and obviously emotional for everyone involved, but especially the bride! Jess valiantly made it through her vows, and it was touching to see Tom reassuring her and helping her through when the happy tears began to fall.
Immediately after the ceremony the new Mr & Mrs Swindell took the opportunity of a few minutes together on a drive in the Rolls Royce, before coming back to Ringwood Hall for a lovely surprise! Unbeknownst to Tom and Jess their friends had organised a dove release on the lawns. It took a bit of persuading to get the birds to leave the comfort of their box, but that just added to the fun!
Drinks and canapes were served to the guests and there was time for some mingling before the photos. After the group shots Ben and I were able to take Jess and Tom off for a walk around the beautifully landscaped grounds, and shoot some portraits. The weather and light were absolutely lovely, and we got some gorgeous shots around the hotel.
As the evening approached and more guests arrived it was great to meet and chat to lots of the happy couple’s friends and family, as well as take their photographs! Jess and Tom danced to “How long will I love you?” by Ellie Goulding, before the father and daughter dance.
Congratulations again Jess and Tom, and best wishes for a long and happy marriage!
