- Jon
Hello!
I'm Jon: tea-lover, husband, father, photographer, writer, book-worm, teacher, cricket-watcher, Peak-District explorer. Not necessarily in that order!
I live in Derby with my amazing wife Anna and our beautiful daughters Eleanor and Sophie.
Anna introduced me to cricket when we met. Until then I couldn't see the point of a game that lasted for five days and could end in a rain-induced draw! However, by the time I proposed to her in 2010, we couldn't think of a better venue than a cricket ground for our wedding reception! At the time, it was certainly the best day of my life - joint best now, since Ellie and Sophie arrived! - and well worth all the hours of planning that went into it. We LOVE looking back at our album and reminiscing about our day. We love that Ellie and Sophie are both now old enough so that we can sit down and show her how young and good-looking her parents once were!
The first time we let a 3-year-old Ellie look through our wedding album - having triple-checked that her hands were clean - her eyes lit up with delight. Mummy in a wedding dress! Daddy looked smart! So many faces she recognised, from a time before she existed. It was a special moment: hearing her questions and seeing her full of curiosity.
Photos have that power to affect us - perhaps even more than video. Frozen moments of time - never to be recreated but perfectly preserved forever. Photos remind us of the strength, courage, and hope that reside in all of us the way few other things can.
No? Ok, well this is me in 2018 after securing a hole-in-one on a tricky little course at Center Parcs. Look how happy I am!
On a wedding day you can be sure that I'll always be within easy reach, happy to help with everything from cravats to buttonholes. By the time we get to the wedding day, we'll have met a few times and had your engagement shoot, so I'll be a friendly, reassuring face.
Chris shot his first wedding with Jon and developed a style very much in keeping with our his. He’s always willing to go the extra mile to help on a wedding day or to get the perfect shot.
In his own words: “I’m very energetic and love to keep myself busy. When I’m not behind a camera, I enjoy spending time with my family and love to keep fit. I am very determined and will give 100% into anything I do. My favourite photos are the ones that tell a story, and that’s what I aim to do with each image I capture at a wedding.”
Jon thinks that he manages the day-to-day running of Jon Cripwell Photography, but his wife Anna is responsible for much of the behind-the-scenes work that is vital to providing the excellent service we deliver to our couples. From overseeing the booking process to handling requests and queries and planning out our social media content, Anna ensures that the business runs smoothly and to the high standards we have set for ourselves.
(She didn't score a hole-in-one here though, did she? Jon)
