Derbyshire Peak District Proposal Photography

“Hi Jon, I wondered if you’d be interested in a possible surprise proposal photoshoot? I’d love to get some candid/secret shots of the morning (where we’re likely to be walking around the Stanage Edge area) and then the proposal moment.”

Erm… hell yes!!

I received this email from Adam a couple of weeks before his planned proposal to his girlfriend, Liv, during their holiday in the Derbyshire Peak District, and I was excited to capture such an important moment – even if it did mean clambering up a mountain (ok, steep hill) at 7:00am on a summer’s morning.

After quite a few emails back and forth, Adam decided that he’d love to use the outcrop on Stanege Edge that featured in the 2005 film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, as Liv is a huge Jane Austen fan! They were planning to start the walk from the car park at the bottom of Stanege Edge at 7:30am, so we arrived bright and early at 7:00am and began the climb to the peak. Even though it was a beautiful summer’s morning, at that time of day we pretty much had the place to ourselves, bar a couple of inquisitive sheep – but it wasn’t long before we spotted Adam and Liv making their way up the footpath.

Posing as landscape photographers, we did our best to blend into the scenery but thankfully Liv was completely oblivious as to what was about to happen! Arriving at (thankfully) the correct rocky outcrop, Adam waited until Liv was admiring the view, then dropped to one knee and changed both their lives forever!
