A Breadsall Priory Wedding: Sioban & Mike’s Day to Remember

The Enchantment of a Breadsall Priory Wedding

Breadsall Priory isn’t just a historical venue; it’s a Derbyshire gem with an old-world charm that makes it a top pick for weddings. For Sioban and Mike, it was the perfect backdrop for them as they said their ‘I dos’.

Getting Ready

I arrived at Breadsall Priory at around 10am to find Sioban and her bridesmaids in the throes of bridal preparations. Makeup by the ever-talented Sophie Downing was well underway. Meanwhile, Sioban’s sister, Kim, had the role of hairstylist, and the results spoke for themselves.

Elsewhere, my second photographer, Chris, was with Mike and his groomsmen, capturing those candid moments we all love.

The Wedding Ceremony at Breadsall Priory

I’ve been to my fair share of weddings, but I’ve got to say, Mike’s reaction as Sioban walked down the aisle stood out. In his own words, his knees were knocking,  and I reckon his eyes were probably welling up (though he’ll deny it) – it was clear that this was their moment. Sioban, on the other hand, was equally nervous and told me that she was simply thinking, “This is surreal!”. It’s these raw, unfiltered moments that make my job worth it.

But if you ask them about the standout moment at the ceremony? Without missing a beat, they both said, “Saying our vows”. After all, that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? Making those incredibly important commitments to each other.

Post-Vows: Revelry at Breadsall Priory

Confetti at Breadsall priory

After the “I dos”, the atmosphere at Breadsall Priory shifted to one of celebration! We moved outside for confetti, then enjoyed drinks and canapes on the beautiful lawns as everyone soaked up the summer sun. Chris and I captured the group shots and then headed off to explore the grounds of Breadsall Priory with Sioban and Mike for some bride and groom portraits. Before long, it was time for the wedding breakfast. Speeches, both funny and heartwarming, set the tone. And when night fell? Sioban and Mike led the dance charge, marking the start of a lively evening.

Reflections on Their Breadsall Priory Wedding Day

Post-wedding, Sioban and Mike were all praise. Describing their day as “everything we’d ever dreamed of”, they had this gem of advice for soon-to-wed couples: “Your day, your narrative.”
