A Colwick Hall Wedding to Remember: Sara & Aisling
Hey everyone! I’m back with another story to share from behind the lens, this time from the spectacular Colwick Hall in Nottingham. As an experienced wedding photographer, I’ve attended hundreds of weddings, but the magic of each one is unique. And believe me, Sara & Aisling’s Colwick Hall wedding was no exception.
The Magical Morning at Colwick Hall
The day began with Sara and Aisling getting ready in separate rooms at Colwick Hall, a grand Georgian-style mansion nestled in over 60 acres of charming parkland. With the help of Sharon from Blush Moments, they were soon looking as radiant as the sun peeking through the soft Nottinghamshire clouds.
There was a flurry of excitement as both brides prepared for the day, surrounded by loved ones, their faces lit with anticipation. As a photographer, I love these moments of shared joy and camaraderie. The soft light filtering through the hotel windows provided the perfect backdrop for some truly cinematic shots.
The First Look: A Moment to Treasure
Perhaps one of the most memorable moments of the day was the ‘reveal’ – the magical moment when Sara and Aisling first saw each other in their wedding dresses. It was a beautiful, intimate moment, and it was a privilege to capture the love and happiness in their eyes. Sara recalls, “I remember thinking how beautiful Ash looked, and how happy and smiley she was.”
The Ceremony: A Union of Love
At 1:30pm, surrounded by friends and family, Sara and Aisling exchanged their vows at Colwick Hall. Their love for each other was palpable, a warmth that radiated throughout the grand ballroom. These moments remind me of why I love what I do.
Reception Revelries
Following the ceremony, the reception kicked off with drinks, canapés, and a flood of well-wishes for the newlyweds. As the laughter rang out and everyone chatted away, Chris and I were kept busy capturing candid moments, confetti, group shots, and some requested group photos.
A Joyous Evening
As the sun began to set, the evening celebrations kicked off. From the cake cutting and the first dance to the magical beats provided by Jackstar DJ and the laughs at the MirraMirra photo booth, the night was a whirl of smiles and dancing. Through it all, I had my camera ready, capturing these candid moments that make each wedding unique.
In their own words, Sara & Aisling described their wedding day as “the best, most magical, day of our lives.” And I couldn’t agree more. This beautiful couple, their love for each other, and the joy of their celebration were a pleasure to document. As they said their farewells and made their way into the Nottingham night, it was clear to all present that their love story was just beginning.
A Few Final Words
Capturing Sara & Aisling’s special day at Colwick Hall was an absolute joy. It’s weddings like this, filled with love, laughter, and unique touches that remind me of why I love what I do. Their magical day is one that I’ll always remember, and I feel incredibly privileged to have been a part of it.
I asked Sara and Aisling, whether they had any top tips to share with anyone else planning their wedding. This was their response:
“Don’t let anyone else intervene unless you ask them for advice. Try and stick to a budget if you can, but if you want to spend a bit more and you can afford to then go for it! But also don’t let anyone tell you that you need to spend x amount. If needed, delegate jobs to family/friends, but also if you want to plan it just the both of you then do that! Book suppliers as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Try not to leave lots to do in the last few weeks, so that you can enjoy the lead up to the wedding and last few weeks of being engaged as much as possible.”
