Cottage Hotel Ruddington Wedding Photography: Jade & Ryan

The Cottage Hotel in Ruddington, Nottinghamshire – it’s a little gem tucked away in a quiet village, perfect for Jade and Ryan’s relaxed celebration. With stunning gardens and a genuine cottage feel, this charming venue, beautifully adorned with flowers by Phoenix Flowers, definitely won them over. Not to mention the picturesque flowering plants and hanging baskets in the courtyard, which made everyone feel like they were stepping into a fairy tale. And let’s talk about the tasteful combination of white roses and eucalyptus throughout the venue; it’s as if Jade and Ryan waved a magic wand and brought their simple, yet beautiful theme to life!

Getting Ready at The Cottage Hotel

The calm before the celebration – what a magical time! The sun was shining brightly in the azure sky, setting the perfect tone for Jade and Ryan’s big day. Jade, her bridesmaids, her mum, and her brother all gathered in the cosy bridal suite annexe to get ready together. Hair by M Hair and Beauty West Bridgford and makeup by Hannah Finn Makeup ensured everyone looked their best. Laughter and anticipation filled the air as they helped each other with the final touches.

As for Ryan, the ever-organised groom, he was busy making sure everything was in order, leaving no stone unturned. While they prepared, I found a picturesque spot to hang Jade’s dress, framed by the elegant French doors of the annexe. With the beautiful gardens serving as a backdrop, I also captured the smaller details, like the shoes and flowers. Amidst all this excitement, everyone managed to stay calm and relaxed – perhaps they were channelling their inner zen!

Walking Down the Aisle: A Moment to Remember

The bridal suite was just a short walk through the lovely gardens to the ceremony room in the hotel, and what an unforgettable walk it was. Jade admitted she was incredibly nervous to walk down the aisle, confessing, “Out of the whole day, that was the thing I was most scared about. All I could think was ‘don’t trip, don’t trip!’ It was all a blur!” As she stepped into the ceremony room, however, she was greeted with an atmosphere brimming with love and support from family and friends.

Meanwhile, Ryan was experiencing his own mix of emotions as he waited for Jade. Nervous yet excited, he knew he was about to marry the love of his life. After a quick hello to Ryan, who was looking calm-ish, I took my place at the front of the room, and then, we were ready…

The Ceremony: A Perfect Union at The Cottage Hotel

Jade and Ryan’s ceremony was simple but lovely – the perfect reflection of their love for each other. As they exchanged vows and sealed their union with their first kiss, it was clear that they were perfectly in sync. Everyone in the room basked in the relaxed and heartwarming atmosphere, and as they walked back up the aisle as husband and wife, their happiness was simply contagious!

The Reception: Love, Laughter, and Dancing at The Cottage Hotel

We all made our way to the gardens for a drinks reception in the sunshine, before I gathered everyone on the lawn for an opportunity to throw things (mostly confetti) at the happy couple! A little later, I stole Jade and Ryan away for fifteen minutes to capture some portraits, which we kept fun and relaxed as always! Then it was back in to the ceremony room which had now been turned around and beautifully decorated for the wedding breakfast and speeches.

Before we knew it, the evening guests were arriving and there was a quick room change once again. Jade and Ryan both remember the moment their specially curated playlist began, as the dance floor filled with their closest family and friends. They said, “We had such a good time! Everyone looked like they were having so much fun!” The beautiful cake, created by Katies Cakes, added a sweet touch to the festivities.

Capturing the Moments: A Photographer’s Perspective

As a wedding photographer, I strive to capture the atmosphere and essence of each couple’s unique celebration. Jade and Ryan’s wedding was a joy to photograph, as their love for one another, combined with their relaxed and fun approach, made for truly unforgettable moments.

Seeing their reactions to the photographs for the first time was heartwarming. The couple said, “We were both so excited to see our wedding pictures for the first time. It was so lovely to see everyone having such a good time. The whole day was captured perfectly.”

Reflections: Embracing the Unforgettable Moments

Looking back on their big day, Jade and Ryan couldn’t help but feel that everything was just right – from the picturesque venue and beautiful décor to the perfect soundtrack and lovely weather. Their only wish? To have been able to hit the pause button and take it all in a bit more. As Jade put it, “It is such a long day, but before you know it, it’s over like that!”

In my experience, this is a pretty common feeling after the wedding, and one of the reasons I usually suggest you take five minutes as a couple on your own after the portrait session, just so you have chance to actually think about the amazing day you’re having together!
