Derby Engagement Shoot | A magical moment captured on Nikki and Louis’ engagement shoot at Elvaston Castle.

I could attend a workshop on posing each day for a year, and I’d still never be able to artificially create the moment that is captured in this photo of Nikki and Louis during their engagement shoot at Elvaston Castle. It’s a frozen moment of joy and happiness that can never be recreated exactly as it happened.

One of the key reasons that I include an engagement shoot in each package is that it offers me, as a wedding photographer, to get to know my clients really well. Having that knowledge of them as a couple, and each person as an individual gives me the opportunity to understand what I can have them do or say that will get the reaction I want. During the shoot, I will, of course, give my clients tips on posing, because I want them to look their very best in their engagement photos. But I know that in order to capture something of who they actually are, and their relationship with each other, we have to go beyond a simple of instruction of where to stand and who to look at.

The other key reason, of course, is that I get to hang out with some really cool people!
