Nottinghamshire Wedding | A Photo A Day | Day Seven

I’ve challenged myself to post a photo a day for the next year, (maybe beyond) and explain the story behind it, and why I love it. Today’s featured image is from Hanan and Mark’s Nottinghamshire wedding at Belton Woods Hotel.
I’m always on the lookout for a different way to frame a photograph, a different perspective on something which occurs at most weddings, such as the bride getting into her wedding car. The beautiful bride in this photograph is Hanan, and having spent the morning with her bridesmaids and family at Belton Woods Hotel was now ready to travel to meet her groom at their Coptic Church in Nottingham. I love her expression of happiness, anticipation and perhaps a few understandable nerves; her father’s face, just visible on the left, conveys such a range of emotions too – joy and pride; and in the background, Hanan’s bridesmaids watch on.
I decided to shoot the image through the car to give a sense of the story. Little did we know the story that awaited us! Classic wedding cars are usually very reliable – and I’m sure that this one is nearly always on its best behaviour too – but unfortunately, on this particular morning, it decided that this was a journey too far! I’ll save the details for their wedding blog post, but happily, and at the risk of spoilers, Hanan made it to the church on time and married the love of her life, Mark.
