Sarah & Daniel: Derbyshire Pre-Wedding Shoot

When you live in somewhere as beautiful as Derbyshire, you can be spoilt for choice when it comes to locations for a pre-wedding shoot. But I have to say, I don’t think I’ve ever shot in anywhere quite as pretty as Robin Hood’s Stride in the Peak District, which was the beautiful spot that Sarah and Dan chose for their engagement shoot earlier this summer.
We clambered up on to the rocks, (always fun with a couple of light stands and a bag of photo gear!) and took a few shots on top of the outcrop, some with a gridded flash to help bring back the dramatic sky, but also some natural light shots – which I think I prefer.

Then we continued on down the hill to a spot where we took my favourite images from the shoot: a little gateway leading to a rough track running downhill, where I went for a little lie down in order to fill the top half of the frame with sky. The gate and tree framed them perfectly, and by this time they had relaxed into the shoot a little bit and be themselves.
I’m really looking forward to their wedding at Callow Hall later this month. Sarah and Dan make such a lovely couple, and it was a pleasure to spend an evening with them, and meet some of Dan’s mates in the pub afterwards too! Look out for their wedding blog post later this year!
