A Beautiful Autumn Wedding at The Ashes Barn Wedding Venue

I was delighted when Lara and Ryan asked me to photograph their wedding at The Ashes Barn in Staffordshire. It’s a picturesque family-run wedding venue set in beautiful grounds which I knew are particularly stunning in the autumn when the sun is lower in the sky and the leaves on the trees that line the driveway offer an incredible range of red, gold, and copper colours.

Lara and Ryan had first met at University whilst studying Geography before going on to teach. When I first met them at their home in Derby, I was greeted initially by their brown Springer spaniel Bonnie, who made me feel very welcome! Over a cup of coffee, we chatted about their wedding plans and I got to know all three of them a bit more, and I felt sure we’d be a good fit. They both wanted natural, unobtrusive and relaxed wedding photography and that’s exactly what I always offer!

The wedding day was beautifully crisp and autumnal, which was just what they wanted. The Ashes Barns looked incredible, as did Lara and Ryan! It was clear from the outset that the guests – family and friends from all over the country (and the world!) – were the part of the day that was most important to the couple. Each guest had a personalised favour with a little (usually hilarious) bio and picture included.

The whole day was full of laughter and fun, right up to the dancefloor props! Enjoy some of my favourite shots from the day below.
